READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO AVOID THE COMMON MISTAKES IN POOL CONSTRUCTION!
IT CAN HELP YOU
Let me explain why we are the local experts in concrete pool construction and how we can help and guide you to building the swimming pool of your dreams, without the common problems customers face in this industry. To start, I was born into the pool business. My grandfather started his first swimming pool company in Los Angeles in the 60's and then moved it to Charlotte in the early 80's. Almost all of my family worked in pool construction. In the beginning, I was only going to do pools for one summer. Well, that was 28 years ago. I started out as an employee in his company doing every phase of pool construction, then became a sub-contractor doing pool excavation, rebar, plumbing & equipment sets, among other things. I was a sub for many of the local swimming pool companies, constructing between 80 to 150 pools every year. I learned how these companies operated and the good and bad things about them. One of the trades I subcontracted was mastic installation, which was the last phase, as a result I would hear all the customer complaints about things not done correctly or not completed at all. A lot of these companies would seem to disappear one they got that final check. The Charlotte area is full of companies you do not want to deal with. The large companies are usually disconnected with the building process all together, they are comprised of management and sales only, they have quotas to adhere to, profit expectations, and subcontract everything. Even when they have good management, they are limited by profit margins and usually have to utilize the cheapest and most inexperienced subcontractors. Your salesman might be great, and he will promise you everything, but he is a salesman not a pool builder and his designs and quotes will reflect that. You can expect upcharges due to their lack of experience and knowledge with layouts, grades, and proper site evaluation. After the sale your salesman won't be in the picture, and you will get trafficked through project managers and construction managers. You can be assured no one will be there to supervise and sometime not even check the subcontractor's work. The managers simply have too much to handle in most cases. They usually offer great warranties but when you actually need work done getting in touch with them can be a nightmare. The smaller companies can be great, but you have to ensure their experience and knowledge of the construction process. You need to ensure the jobs have good oversight, management, and that the oversight is performed by someone who understands the different phases of construction and how they should be done properly. If they don't know how to do the job themselves then how can they properly supervise the work? With Carolina Custom Pools I have taken everything I have learned and created the best custom pool company around. We take the time to get to know you and what you are looking for in a pool. We work with what you want and your budget to come up with a few designs. If those don't work, we go back to the drawing board to come up with what will. We don't get frustrated or high pressure you into a quick sell. We properly evaluate your access, utilities points, site grades, well/sewer/septic locations, to ensure you have the most accurate quote. Some companies give you a very generic site evaluation, usually not even utilizing a transit to take grade shots, give you a low upfront quote to obtain your purchase, and then when day of excavation comes tell you that you need a wall, raised beam, additional grading, extra dirt haul, etc. A proper site evaluation would have let you know that from the beginning. That is their tactic to seem cheaper and get your sell. We don't do that; we do everything we can to ensure the most inclusive price quote, so you don't have additional charges. Some things like soil quality, rocks, unlocated utilities, and other underground obstacles really cannot sometimes be determined until excavation though. If one of those problems arise, we will clearly explain to you what the additional costs will be, and let you make your decision on whether to proceed or not. If it is not within your budget to proceed you can then back out and only be charged for the work performed up to that point. We rarely do not proceed, and we diligently work with you to perform the additional work required for the best price. Once you sign a contract with us, we provide you with a construction plan for you to submit to your HOA (if applicable), we then apply for a permit and contact 811 to locate all utilities. (We strongly advise you to pre call 811 for markings prior to any sales calls though, as it will allow you to know if you have any issues before even getting quotes.) Once a permit is obtained, we schedule a start day to begin excavation. All work prior to shotcrete is performed in house by me and our team. The rest of the process is done by a combination of us and utilizing subcontractors. Any subcontractors we use our highly skilled professionals with a minimum of 20 years’ experience. They are people I have known and worked with for the last 20 years. All work not performed by us is supervised by us. We are there to ensure everything goes smoothly and correctly, and if any problems arise, we can address them immediately. Once the pool is filled our job is not done, we brush and balance the pool daily to adhere to NPC guidelines for new plaster care, educate you on taking care of your new pool and how to operate everything, provide you with all accessories, chemicals, test kit, and ensure you have a proper understanding of how to use it all. Then we hand the reigns over to you. Of course, we usually always get calls the first few weeks on “how do I do this again” and we are always here to answer any of them. We also provide pool repairs and service and are only a phone call away for all our customers. Our customers are not only customers they become part of our Carolina Custom Pools family. We offer free site evaluations, 3D designs, and customer guide. You really have no reason not to make us your first choice in acquiring a new pool quote. Whether you use us or another company I hope this information helps you to get your dream pool built without any troubles and without killing your budget.
